Michael Alexei is a queer Tajik-Russian immigrant screenwriter and actor currently based in Los Angeles. He creates heightened worlds where queer characters hold central roles.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, he emigrated with his family in 1999 and grew up in Pittsburgh, PA.
He attended Syracuse University, earning a BFA in Acting in December of 2018. He’s trained with teachers in New York, London, Chicago, and Los Angeles and was taught Meisner technique by Kathryn Gately, who trained directly under Sanford Meisner.
Themes that he’s experienced throughout his life inevitably find their way into his writing: the immigrant experience, queerness, nature and wilderness, economic inequality, as well as reality, past lives, and relationships repeated across time.
